Assessment and Removal of Heavy Metals and Other Ions from the Industrial Wastewater of Faisalabad, Pakistan

The contamination of surface and groundwater is major concern around the globe due to fast industrialization urbanization. water quality rivers, Ravi Chenab in Faisalabad, Pakistan are contaminated industrial wastewater. aim this study was assessment physiochemical contaminants Faisalabad’s wastewater area adsorptive removal ions present high concentrations following National Environmental Quality Standards (NEQS) for municipal liquid effluents Pakistan. One two samples collected from a drain carrying different industries other outlet discharging into river Chenab. analysis results obtained indicate that most were below acceptable limit NEQS, However, like sulfate (714 mg/L), total dissolved solids (33,951–34,620 mg/L) barium (11–15 found be higher than allowable level NEQS A novel biosorbent synthesized indigenously Monotheca buxifolia seeds used sulfate, TDS effluent samples. This successfully reduced ion concentration sample 714 420 mg/L at pH 6 1 h.
